The Texas Lotto 6-of-54
The first drawing occurred Wednesday, April 26, 2006.
Prior to this date the matrix changed several times since the Texas state
lottery started in 1992.
Drawings are held twice a week on Wednesday and Saturday evening at 10:12p.m. Deadline for on-line orders through I.M.I. is 2:00p.m. (ET) Wednesday and Friday.
You pick six numbers between 1 and 54. Players win for matching 3, 4, 5 or all six numbers (Jackpot). This creates overall odds of 1 in 71 for winning one of the four prizes. The odds of winning the jackpot are approximately 1 in 25.8 million.
All prizes (except 3/6) are pari-mutuel, that is they depend on the number of dollars wagered and the number of winners for each category. The minimum jackpot is estimated at $4 million. See prize structure for more details and odds. The jackpot is paid as a 25 year annuity or as cash prize (approximately 50% of the estimated jackpot, less taxes). Winning tickets are valid for 180 days.
50% of the cost of each ticket go into the prize pool.
