The Florida "New Fantasy 5" Lotto 5-of-26
Ticket sales began April 28, 1989. The first drawing was May 2, 1989. On April 29, 1993, the matrix changed to 1 through 26, and since April 24, 1999 there are seven weekly drawings, Monday through Sunday. From Janyary 24, 1994 until April 23, 1999 drawings were held five nights a week from Monday through Friday. Before April 29, 1993 it was a 5-of-39 matrix with drawings Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Drawings are held every Monday through Sunday night at 11:15p.m. (ET). Deadline for on-line orders through I.M.I. is 4:00p.m. (ET) the day on the drawing. Orders received on Friday after the 4:00p.m. deadline will only start the following Monday (only for Florida Lottery games!).
Players pick 5 numbers between 1 and 26. Players win prizes for matching three, four or all five numbers (Jackpot). This creates overall odds of 1 in 29.82 for winning one of the three prizes. The odds of winning the jackpot are approximately 1 in 65,000.
All prizes are pari-mutuel, that is they depend on the number of dollars wagered and the number of winners in each prize category. See prize structure for more details and odds. The jackpot is paid as a cash prize in one lump sum. Winning tickets are valid for 180 days.
Fifty percent of total sales for each drawing is allocated for prize payments (the prize pool). From the prize pool, 60 percent is used to pay jackpot winners, 10 percent is used to pay second-prize winners (4-of-5), and 30 percent is used to pay third-prize winners (3-of-5). 34% of total sales go towards education in Florida.
